Biodiesel Fuel Line

The Gates Corporation 4219D (SAE 30R9) Fuel Injection Hose now has California Air Resources Board (CARB) Certification.

Gates Fuel Line Hose 4219D Certificate listed below states “4219D Conforms with the performance requirements set forth in the 13 California Code of Regulations (13CCR), section 2754 when tested at a constant temperature of 40°C (104°F) using SAE J1737 test procedures”.

The CARB is part of the California Environmental Protection Agency, which has established a certification process for evaporative emission system components for small off-road engines. CARB certification requires that the fuel permeation rate must be less than 15 grams/meter squared/24 hours using SAE 1737 test procedures. The 4219D product also meets the EPA 40 CFR 1051.501 permeation requirement of 15 grams/meter squared /24 hours.

A copy of the CARB Certificate is available for customers by contacting Hose Product Application.

Gates Fuel line Hoses certified for CARB are:

Model No. Size (in.) Size (mm) FKM tube Working pressure (psi)
4219D 1/4 6.3 yes 180
4219D 5/16 8 yes 180
4219D 3/8 10 yes 180

AND

4219D also exceeds the proposed SAE 30R 13 Bio Diesel Standard. Gates Technical testing states Fuel Line 4219D meets the proposed SAE J30R13 Standard for BioDiesel @ Temperature range -34°C (-29°F) to 135°C (275°F), with intermittent use up to 150°C (302°F).

Gates customers can use 4219G or 4219XL (SAE 30R7) Fuel Lines for Bio Diesel applications at temperatures up to 65°C (150°F) in addition to its normal SAE 30R7 fuel applications.
